1-Day Retreat: Yoga, TRE® & Yoga Nidra

A day to feel nourished and cared for while (re)connecting to your body, mind, and sense of self.

The Retreat
The new year offers a moment to reflect and check in with ourselves. As we move into 2025 we invite you to join us for a day of reflection, relaxation, and nourishment to start your year with clarity and ease. We leave the often busy holiday season behind along with all the new year resolutions and take a pause.

For this day retreat I join forces again with Laura Bronkers, founder of Casa di Yoga. This time we meet in Diemen, Amsterdam at the beautiful Pastorie. The Pastorie is a historic building dating from 1882. It has recently been renovated and offers a fully equipped yoga studio, cafe with delicious vegan lunches, and more.

We start our day together with a warm welcome and a cup of tea. The first practice is a grounding and embodying yoga practice (accessible for all levels of practitioners) combined with exercises to stimulate the vagus nerve. When we finish the practice, Laura will be waiting for us with a delicious and nourishing vegan lunch. Laura is known for her colourful dishes packed with flavour!

The second half of the day we focus on the nervous system. After a lecture on the autonomic nervous system and the vagus nerve, Suze guides you through a TRE® practice.

After a tea break we close the day with the last practice; a long yoga nidra that will leave you feeling deeply rested and restored.

Home-Cooked Vegan Lunch

Laura Bronkers, founder of Casa di Yoga, is vegan kok. Laura heeft een passie voor natuurlijke en kleurrijke voeding. Met name de Italiaanse keuken heeft een speciaal plekje in haar hart. Laura verzorgt al jaren alle maaltijden tijdens de retreats die ze met Casa di Yoga organiseert. Tijdens de dagretreat kan je genieten van de heerlijke lunch, snacks en theetjes die Laura voor je klaar maakt. Waar nodig kan rekening worden gehouden met voedsel intoleranties en alergiën.

The Practices

Yoga & Vagal Toning

Yoga is known for its positive effect on both our physical and mental health. The combination of breath, mindfulness, and movement trigger a neurological response in our body and mind that helps us to regulate and balances the autonomic processes in our body. Yoga inherently is a practice that stimulates or ‘trains’ the vagus nerve. On this day retreat Suze will combine a gentle vinyasa yoga practice with other gentle exercises, making vagal toning the main focus of the practice.

TRE®    

TRE® is a body-oriented practice developed by Dr. David Bercelli. The body's tremor mechanism, which we share with all mammals, is activated through a set series of exercises. Through these tremors, the body releases tension and tension patterns stored in the nervous system as a result of stressful or traumatizing experiences in the past. 

 

 

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a form of deep meditation and relaxation. While you lay down in a comfortable position, you are guided into a state of deep relaxation that gives access to the subconscious, so that healing can take place on a deep level. Through Yoga Nidra, you reach a trance state between being awake and sleeping. In this state, your brain creates theta waves, allowing your rational brain to sleep while your subconscious remains active and thus maintains a trace of connection with your surroundings. In this state experiences and fragments of memories are processed, muscle tension and stress in the body decrease, and blood pressure and heart rate lower. This has a very healing effect on the body and mind.

Suze Retera is a psychologist, somatic trauma therapist, TRE® provider, orthomolecular therapist, and yoga and yoga nidra teacher. In her practice in Amsterdam, she combines these modalities into a holistic approach with the body as the focus point of healing. By releasing experiences through the body, insights, and sustainable healing can occur.
